Very Versatile Versa
by Almost Empty Nesters on 06/26/2012.
Trim: 2011 Nissan Versa 1.8 SL Hatchback, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
Roomy backseat. Upgraded interior option gives a more expensive look inside. Upgraded sound system / navigation has great sound. Speed sensing steering makes parking light and provides a good feel of the road while driving. Size of the door pockets is good. Versa HB doesn't seem to be blown around by high winds like our Pontiac Vibe HB (a.k.a. Toyota Matrix) Doesn't require expensive touring tires. Engine is very quiet, even at higher revs.
Cons:
Glare off the dash in the windshield can make it VERY hard to see the road in direct sunlight, keep a pair of polarized sunglasses on board at all times to minimize this issue! CVT is not for a driving enthusiast; it is smooth, no sudden take off's or downshifts, it is fine for drivers who don't need performance. Passenger seat does not go back far enough for tall riders, they are better accomodated in the backseat. Very limited storage compartments. Ride and seats are stiffer than a Pontiac Vibe (Matrix).
Overall review:
Over all the Versa is an excellent everyday car. If you get a CPO you get a 7 yr / 100,000 mil power train warranty from Nissan that started on the original in service date. Some reviews sight gas mileage is lower than advertised; however, I have been getting 29 mpg in mixed driving. We are almost empty nesters, and believe this will be a perfect car for the daily commute and the longer day trips / weekend getaways. Versa is very versatile!
