Great car for the Money by Willyd from Chicago on 04/19/2009. Trim: 2008 Saab 9-5 2.3T, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Excellent comfort, good performance from the 4 cylinder turbo and 5 speed automatic, nice update from previous models. The ride is very compliant and steering direct. The 4 cylinder engine provides good acceleration and economy and the transmision works seamlessly. All of the old model Aero goodies(200 watt stereo, nice leather sport seats, more powerfull engine, etc.) are now standard. The radio in particular is much better. Like having On-star for hands free phone that is clear and easy to use. Overall an excellent update to the 2005 and before design.
Cons: I needed to add a larger cup holder from Walmart for my large coffee mug. I am having trouble finding a spot for my aftermarket GPS and may want to just use the On-star service instead. The trunk release feature on the remote unlocks the trunk, but does not raise the lid. If carying something you need a free hand to push it open.
Overall review: I owned a 04 version of this car previously and am impressed with the upgrades on the current models. Good in-car tech and most of the good stuff from the Aero model as standard. The ride and handling has been improved too. I live in the Chicago area and the ride is great for our frost heaved roads. I also appreciate the free maintenance and long warrenties plus the discounted price I was able to receive. My car had been on the lot for a while and with the discounts from GM and the dealer wanting to move it, I was able to purchase for over 40% off list.
