Pros:
Both looks and performance are unmatched for your money. So much more refined and a slight handling edge over the Mustang GT...from the experts:
For the definitive answer, we go to Randy's times: 87.67 seconds in the BMW to 87.76 seconds for the Ford. That's right, the difference between the fastest laps of the M3 and Mustang GT is, literally, less than an eye blink: 0.09

So if you want refinement and slight edge over the Mustang, spend the extra $26K or buy a slighed used 08 for the price of new GT
Cons:
Gas mileage is bad... $4 gas is painful at the pump
Overall review:
Driving an M3 will bring a smile to your face. The overall performance is truly unbelieveable but the handling is unbeatable. Confidence inspiring in every turn at almost any speed. After a year of ownership I'm itching to get in on a track at a driving school to really learn how to drive this remarkable machine without all of the stability controls on. I've tried turning them off and that is a big no no if you don't know what you're doing. You quickly realize they're for your protection to keep the beast in the cage. When off I've come very close to leaving the road on a number of occasions. For the record my M is a convertible so the added 400lbs will cause the purists to cry foul, but with the hardtop down in the summer is tough to beat and you can hear the rumble of the V8 whine and the exhaust howl the much easier.
