Pros:
*For such a large car it's quick and nimble.
*Excellent power and torque all the way through the power band. In fact there is so much power its hard to imagine that Mercedes has good reason to put a super charger on the '03 engine.
*I drive with the ABC stability management on all the time; its a great system! The ride and quality are really impressive.
Cons:
*The price of entry is high and the first year depreciation is harsh.
*It seems like Mercedes sits down with its engineers at the beginning of THIS model year, to plan what improvements they will have for NEXT model year, so that they can determine what they will withhold from THIS year for maximum impact NEXT year. In short, you buy this car only if your are prepared to drive it for atleast three years to mitigate the depreciation and planned obsolesence.
Overall review:
An outstanding big car that combines power, safety, performance and handling into one limo like package. The fit and finish are great. It comes standard with many amenities and points of comfort, and actually gets really good combined gas mileage. I have had a little trouble with the power window motor on the passenger side and finally had the whole unit replaced including switches on both doors. I would say overall that once you get past the sticker shock up front, dealing with Mercedes Benz Credit Corporation and their early lease payoff penalty, as well as that big depreciation hit the first year, there are very few cars on the planet that will do what this one will with the WHOLE NINE YARDS of what you look for in a car like this.
