Beware of the 80,000 transmission
by An MSN Autos Consumer on 03/16/2005.
Trim: 1999 Honda Odyssey EX, Owned 4 years.

Pros:
Love the styling, comfort, auto doors (when they work) stowable 3rd row, wear of upholstry.
Cons:
The doors would have a seizure from time to time which would have resulted in multiple visits to the dealership, but a kind person there showed me how to 'reset' by pulling the fuse and replacing. (hint, hint) The TRANSMISSION is another story. We bought the van at 23000 miles and noticed a thunk 10 seconds after going into reverse. Mechanics couldn't trace problem. 20000 miles later a flare showed up in 2nd gear. By 75000 we had been round and round with Honda USA and Honda Canada because--BUYER BEWARE: IF you buy a Canadian model in the US...Warranties do not apply!!! (they will tell you that safety warranties will get fixed--fried tranny isn't very safe to me-stuck in traffic!)
Overall review:
If the customer service had been kinder and not so snide at the corporate level, I may have given them another chance. But being stuck with a car I bought for the fine name and reputation and having it fall far short with no recourse because of where it was built, that was too much. The DOA Honda was traded in on a beautiful new TOYOTA at an incredible loss.
