911 RS America -- the sports car at its finest by jaybee on 02/08/2003. Trim: 1993 Porsche 911 RS America, Owned 6 years.
Pros: Incredible sports car -- nothing like it. The braking and handling are unmatched. German engineering at its finest. My car has been extremely reliable in >30k miles. This is a fantastic car for its purpose, a daily driver sports car without the softness of the Japanese boy racers.
Cons: 250hp is not what it was in 1993. Other than that, does everything it's supposed to exceptionally well. Ride is firm, and it lacks conveniences like cruise control, but that's the design -- pure sports car.
Overall review: Anyone (Toyota) can slap a turbo or two on a car (300ZX) and get a decent performer (RX-7), but the 911 was around long before these cars and will be around long after they are gone. A joy to drive and executed to perfection. After 5 1/2 years of ownership, I can't think of a single thing I would change. Ok, the base radio stinks -- throw it in the trash. That's it.
