Pros: Fairlly good steering, cheesy leatherette looks leather. This was on the SE, the S model engine is such an old design.
Cons: The 5 cylinder has a huge flat spot in its acceleration that feels like the engine takes a moment to figure out what just hit it. The diesel needs fuel filter change every 20000 miles for $113 each time, the auto transmission needs fluid//filter every 40000 miles for about $500 each time, at 120000 miles you have to replace the timing belt/water pump for about $1500. Diesel costs about 30 cents or more a gallon. So it'll be awhile before that diesel TDI catches up with the gas version for cost savings. Did I mention that leatherette imitation leather. Lots of synthetics are used so you cannot usually find oil or coolant or other supplies without heading for the dealership.
Overall review: Nice driving, lots of repair concerns. Hit and miss kind of car experience. Literally in an accident if the air bags go off it unllocks the doors, starts the 4 way emergency flashers and begins sounding the horn to alert eternity that you may be on your way. The keys are all a reverse laser cut so you have to get them directly from the dealership and it isn't cheap. Recommend it for someone who you don't really like.
