The redesigned 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid debuts a revised version of Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain which includes a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The new hybrid drivetrain, lighter overall weight and improved aerodynamics combine to achieve more than a 30 percent improvement in fuel economy with EPA-estimated 43 mpg city/39 mpg highway. A new water-cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system helps to ensure the lowest possible emissions at all vehicle speeds and helps increase fuel efficiency. A new EV Drive mode allows the driver to operate the car on the electric motor alone for up to 1.6 miles at low speeds (below approximately 25 mph). As on the previous model, ECO mode optimizes throttle response and air conditioning output to maximize fuel economy.

Dumped an SUV for 2012 Camry Hybrid by Nevada on 04/10/2012. Trim: 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: Performance is amazing. It'll move when you want it to and save gas when you want to.
Cons: Getting used to less space than our SUV-not the car's fault.
Overall review: Excellent car. We traded in a 16mpg SUV for the 40 mpg this car gets, and while we miss the room of the SUV we love this car. The 2012 is a huge improvement over the previous model.
