2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

The redesigned 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid debuts a revised version of Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain which includes a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The new hybrid drivetrain, lighter overall weight and improved aerodynamics combine to achieve more than a 30 percent improvement in fuel economy with EPA-estimated 43 mpg city/39 mpg highway. A new water-cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system helps to ensure the lowest possible emissions at all vehicle speeds and helps increase fuel efficiency. A new EV Drive mode allows the driver to operate the car on the electric motor alone for up to 1.6 miles at low speeds (below approximately 25 mph). As on the previous model, ECO mode optimizes throttle response and air conditioning output to maximize fuel economy.
