The 2012 Nissan Versa sedan receives a ground-up redesign, while the 2012 Versa hatchback remains essentially unchanged after exterior and interior upgrades in 2010. The Versa sedan features an all-new, front-wheel drive, CVTC 16-valve 1.6-liter engine that weighs 150 pounds less than its predecessor, and delivers 109 horsepower at 107 lb-ft of torque, for mileage estimated at 30 mpg city/38 mpg highway. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission (1.6 S model only) or a CVT automatic transmission. With its longer wheelbase and redesigned interior, the sedan offers greater cabin volume and rear-seat legroom than the previous model, and the interior improvements include upgraded cloth seats, navigation and connectivity. The Versa Sedan is available in three trims: 1.6 S, 1.6 SV and 1.6 SL. Refinements for the 2012 Nissan hatchback include the addition of the previous Premium Package content as standard equipment on the SL model and four new packages for the S model: Convenience Package, 15-inch Aluminum-Alloy Wheel Package, Special Edition Package and the Nissan Navigation Package.

The perfect little car that feels BIG. by An MSN Autos Consumer on 03/06/2012. Trim: 2012 Nissan Versa 1.6 S Sedan, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: This is a great small car that feels big. Cost is great. I paid $13,500 for air, cruise, auto CVT tranny, and all the safety features. I can't buy a used car with these features for this price. I'm getting 32 miles per gallon in all city driving. A great commuter car. Why do I need to spend $30,000 to drive back and forth to work. The other car companies are shaking in their boots about this car. They have nothing in their lineups to compare to the Versa.'s price and features. Smooth CVT transmission. Good pickup. Solid ride.
Cons: Base seat fabric could be better. Attacts hair lint and fuzz. Hard to get off.
Overall review: Great overall commputer car. Nissan was got it right. Must be something people want, it is selling two to one over it's closest rival. There are people out there who don't need fancy gadgets and want a basic car that gets good gas mileage. This is the one to get. Auto reviewers are blinded by performance reviews, fancy dashboards and gadgets. This car is a great attractive little car that does a lot of thing rights at a resonable price.
