Pros:
I like the fact that this compact SUV only weighs 3,300 lbs, which must contribute greatly to the nice driving dynamics. The punchy turbo engine is fun, especially with the transmission in the sport mode! Get the APR upgrade for another 50HP and 50 ft-lbs. The interior comfort and upright seating position is really comfortable for the long haul. The steering wheel controls are a nice feature, and let me scroll thru the computer while driving. The blue-tooth is also really nice with our cell phone. I have the leatherette seating surfaces, which are very comfortable and super easy to clean. The one-touch up-down feature on ALL of the windows is another little VW extra which is nice.
Cons:
The mileage is disappointing, especially since I traded in a Passat TDI for this. But, if I keep the speeds down (65 or less), I can average 28 mpg. Premium fuel is also a bit hard to accept, but I understand that this is a sophisticated little engine. Limited luggage space behind the rear seats, unless you remove the cargo cover. Cargo crossbars should come stock with the vehicle. The location of the electric emergency brake switch, on the console, is horrible. We have accidentally activated this more than once while underway, a jarring experience to say the least. The stereo system is just OK, I expected better from VW.
Overall review:
Highly recommend, if you're in the market for a compact SUV the Tiguan deserves a close look.
