New for 2009 Pontiac G8

The 2009 Pontiac G8 adds the GXP version to the model lineup, powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine rated at more than 400 horsepower and mated with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission or optional 6-speed manual transmission. The Pontiac G8 GXP features track-tuned suspension, 19-inch polished aluminum wheels, Brembo brakes, limited-slip differential. The G8 lineup also adds standard XM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth connectivity and four new exterior colors: Maverick Silver Metallic, Sport Red Metallic, Stryker Blue Metallic and Pacific Slate Metallic.

Short Take

Designed and built by GM's Australian division, the rear-wheel-drive G8 is a large sedan with ride and handling similar to expensive German sedans. The car is agile, with excellent steering, and the supple ride is well controlled. The brawny 6.0-liter V8 delivers blistering acceleration. The GXP packs even more performance. The roomy interior is nicely finished. ESC and head-protection air bags are standard.
