New for 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan

The Dodge Grand Caravan offers new Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path safety systems on SXT trim level. The Rear Cross Path system utilizes the same dual ultra-wideband radar sensors as the Blind Spot Monitoring to warn the driver when the vehicle is in reverse is any traffic is moving toward the vehicle. The Grand Caravan SXT adds a new sport-tuned suspension for improved ride and handling when equipped with the 4.0-liter V6 engine. Fuel economy for the 4.0-liter engine improves to 17/25 mpg city/hwy mpg.

Short Take

Chrysler's minivans are disappointing. Ride comfort is improved, but handling, fit and finish, acceleration, braking, and fuel economy are all unimpressive. Flat-folding second- and third-row seats are still available, with swiveling second-row captain's chairs optional. Reliability of the redesign has been well below average.
