The 2009 Dodge Challenger continues with the SRT8 that went on sale as a 2008 model and adds the R/T and the SE trim levels for the 2009 model year. The Challenger R/T is powered by a 370-horsepower 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with a 5-speed automatic transmission and power is increased to 375-horsepower when equipped with the optional 6-speed manual transmission. The Challenger SE is powered by a 250-horsepower 2.5-liter V6 combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The SRT8 is powered by a 425-horsepower 6.1-liter HEMI V8 with either a 6-speed manual transmission (new for 2009) or a 5-speed automatic transmission with Auto Stick manual shifting.
