Completely redesigned for 2008, the Highlander Hybrid is larger and quieter with more versatility and comfort. With an all-new chassis derived from the Camry and Avalon, the SUV is built nearly four inches longer and three inches wider, with three additional inches of wheelbase than its predecessor. Despite gaining 500 pounds, the SUV continues to average 31/27 mpg on city and hwy with the enhanced Hybrid Synergy Drive system. Powering the Hybrid is a 3.3-liter V6 with four-wheel-drive that delivers 270 net horsepower. New technological features have been added including EV Mode, ECON mode and Hybrid System Indicator. A long list of standard safety features include seven airbags, active headrests for the driver and front passenger, and Direct Tire-Pressure-Monitor System.

Pros: My vehicle insurance cost actually went down because of the safety. Solid feeling of being of safe. There are also side airbags. Great features such as temperature controls for each passenger including the 2nd row seats, separate control for the 2nd seat passengers, heat/cool vents above the backseat passenger and a 3rd row seat or fold down. The hybrid features are amazing. Silent. smooth transition between gas or the battery on the open highway. Runs on battery on cruise. A display gives feedback as to when it is charging the battery. It also uses the braking to charge the battery. Advantage of a SUV is less difficult getting in or out. It has a skid warning light if I need to slow down.

Cons: I hesitated on purchasing the black color vehicle. It is very hard to keep clean. The tires only last for 25000 miles. It is a little close getting into the 3rd row seats.

Overall review: You can't go wrong on buying a Highlander Hybrid. I think the new models will be more improved in the future.
