Finally, The car, the performance and the price all match! by Grumpy on 07/25/2009. Trim: 2008 Hyundai Accent GS 3-Door, Owned 1 year.

Pros: It was a combination of things. Price, reliability, mpg and versatility. Small cars tend to give you either great economy with good performance or poor performance with some hauling ability. The Accent provides great economy, good performance and with the drop of the rear seats, plenty of cargo room. A/C does not obliterate mpg, only a heavy foot will. Consistant 27 in the city with automatic trans.
Cons: Cruise control! Cruise control! Cruise control! Hyundai, did I mention Cruise control? A release for the hatch in this model would be a big plus. I use the hatch every day and using a key each time is annoying. While the suspension is very good for a car of this type, the Accent needs a wider tire. The one that come with the car work very well, but a slightly wider tire will enhance not only the feel of the road while driving, a wider tire will help stabilize the car at highway speeds. Also, the rebound when hitting a pothole with the current size tire makes a noise that travels back into the car. It sounds like a bicycle tire hitting the pavement.
Overall review: I'm a big guy, 6'3" at 250#. The car is very comfortable to drive and overall I like the car very much. If Hyundai makes the improvements I suggested I certainly would buy another Accent, otherwise I'll move up to a Sonata. The most discussed issue I hear about this car is the lack of power. It's a compact rated at 110 hp. It's not a sports car or should it be considered a performance vehicle. It should be looked upon for as low cost vehicle with a moderate power range, high reliability and great mpg. If you're looking for sports car performance you'll be dissapointed. If you're looking for very reliable respectable inexpensive transportation with creature comfort options like a/c , automatic and a nice radio this car will blow you away.
