Pros:
very peppy, very good gas mileage, 6 speed transmission works well, no option packages here.
Cons:
despite having removed the original Pirelli P6 tires, the automobile transmits road noise quite easily depending on the type of road surfaces. only on newly paved roadways does the car seem quiet. I do 95% highway commuting with this car, so my opinion here may be different than others. Compared to GTI which I also test drove, the A3 was slightly more expensive with less features (in Dec 2007). The texture of the instrument panel is somewhat rough and doesn't wipe clean to remove dust easily.
Overall review:
Well built small car with good handling for a front-driver. Pleasing design, inside and out, mainly focusing on style and simplicity. Choose a better tire than the P6 and you're good to go.
