Pros:
First and foremost is the gas mileage. I drive very conservatively and it's a rare occasion that I don't get from the high 30's to the low 40's in mileage...regardless of the conditions. The quality has been fantastic. Nothing has needed attention other than regular maintenance. Power is adequate, comfort is good and the radio is above par for the vehicle. The "S" package is only a visual one. Nothing performance wise is done. It does however look much better than the 2 base models.
Cons:
It could stand to have a few more horses under the hood. It's adequate for what it is, but passing at highway speeds can be challenging. Bigger people may feel cramped in it and a family of 4, while it'll get you where you are going, won't win any awards for comfort.
Overall review:
I think a lot of reviewers are forgetting what they bought. It's not the Rolls Royce of comfort nor the Mustang GT for performance. It is a good, compact car that gets outstanding mileage and has very few maintenance issues. As the most sold car in the world, there are pleanty to pick from if something does go wrong. This is a great city driver, first car, college vehicle or a second car. Taking the family for a extended road trip to Disney World in it isn't the wisest decision. BUy it for what is is, not what it isn't.
