New for 2006 Volvo S40
The 2006 Volvo S40 receives updates that include a new, simplified package and option structure, redesigned alloy wheels and improved cupholders. S40 T5 versions receive a “pushdown” function to engage reverse gear for the 6-speed manual transmission.
Introduction
The S40 is Volvo’s premium small sedan. The all-new second generation S40 arrived in spring of 2004 as a mid-year model change with Volvo’s Intelligent Vehicle Architecture that integrates crashworthiness, design, and driving characteristics. The new S40 features highly protective and preventive safety levels including patented front structure, different steel grades for optimal deformation, frontal design with integrated protection, Intelligent Driver Information System, and a high level of theft protection. The new design offers dynamic styling, enthusiast driving dynamics, and an innovative interior with a unique design. The S40 was first sold in the U.S. for 2000 after being sold in Europe since 1995.
