2006 Mazda MAZDASPEED6

The Mazda MAZDASPEED6 is powered by a 274-horsepower 2.3-liter direct-injection turobocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission with an Active Torque-Split All-Wheel-Drive system. The torque transfer system adjusts front/rear torque distribution and selects between Normal, Sports and Snow (slippery) modes to provide most power and traction under all conditions. A torque-sensing limited-slip differential (borrowed from the Mazda RX-8) optimizes torque and ensures excellent power delivery when cornering or on slippery surfaces. The interior is fitted with black cloth sports seats, alloy pedals, stainless steel inserts on the doors sills, chrome-plated door handles, silver power window switches and the instrument panel has a unique carbon fiber trim look. Compared to the Sport, the Grand Touring adds leather-trimmed heated seats with 8-way power adjustment and adjustable lumbar support for the driver’s seat. Also available for the Grand Touring is an electric tilt-and-slide moonroof.

The MAZDASPEED6 is Mazda's all-new high-performance all-wheel-drive sedan, based on the Mazda6 sedan. The MAZDASPEED6 comes in two trim levels: Sport and Grand Touring. With looks very similar to the Mazda6, the MAZDASPEED6 has an all-new front and rear fascia, hood, front fenders and taillights. The hood sticks out to accommodate the intercooler and a hood scoop has been integrated to feed outside air into the engine. Extended side skirts, twin tailpipes, a lip spoiler and lightweight 18-inch alloy wheels with high-performance tires help complete the aerodynamic look to the body. The MAZDASPEED6 rides lower than a standard MAZDA6 and the double-wishbone front and rear multi-link suspension setups have been tweaked to further enhance handling.
