2006 Maybach Maybach

The 2006 Maybach adds a standard Parking Assist System and the new ultra-performance 57 S joins the lineup. Highlighted by a more aggressively styled grille and body-color headlight surrounds, the Maybach 57 S also receives chrome-trimmed fog lights, rectangular dual exhaust tips and “57 S” badging on the trunk lid and front fenders. The 57 S rides about a half inch lower than the standard 57 and has a firmer air suspension, shock absorbers and thicker stabilizer bars. The suspension has been specially tuned and new 20-inch alloy wheels are fitted with 275/45 R 20 Michelin Pilot Sport tires (versus 19-inch wheels on the standard 57 model). Under the hood is a higher-performance version of the Maybach featuring a 6.0-liter twin-turbo intercooled V12 that produces 604 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque.

Maybachs were originally built for high society and were the most expensive models of their time, selling 1800 units between 1921 and 1941. For 2004, Mercedes-Benz brought back the Maybach name to be worn on the ultimate luxury car that the company calls “a business jet on wheels.” For 2006 Maybach adds the ultra-performance 57 S to the lineup. With the “S” for “Special,”, the Maybach 57 S receives a more aggressive look, more power and a stronger suspension.
