The 2006 Lexus SC 430 receives exterior updates including a revised grille with thicker chrome surround, new two-bulb headlight design, more angular front bumper, LED rear combination lights, LED brake lights and new 5-spoke 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels. The interior is restyled revised instruments, walnut wood trim on the center console, doors and instrument panel, and a new dark brown wood called Espresso paired with the new camel leather-trim interior. Adaptive front lighting system, 6-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission, optional run-flat all-season tires and a rear spoiler are also added. Mercury Metallic, Matador Red, Chardonnay Pearl, Black Pearl and Tiger-Eye Pearl are new exterior colors.

Pros: I have had my SC for almost exactly 2 years and today, coming back to LA from Phoenix, the 60,000 mile showed on the od. This is a love affair with an absolutely magnificent automobile. The fit and finish is great throughout and the quality and careful engineering is evident in nearly all functions. More to the point, when you feel the urge or the need exists for more horses than you know what to do with - they are present and accounted for. My former Porche and Jag couldn't hold a candle to this combo and came in at twice the total cost of ownership. The Lexus dealship system has been fantastic in CA and AZ and all issues corrected or replaced to my satisfaction. Try that with a Bimmer!
Cons: I thought that the standard run-flats were going to give trouble but after experiencing a high-speed blowout with complete control I was able to drive 60 miles back keeping the speed around 55 MPH. Never missed a beat and didn't have to pull the tire in turnpike traffic. Put almost exactly 30k miles on the OEM tires and have gone an additional 30k miles on the Potenza replacements with probably another 10k miles left before a new suit. Some folks carp about the style aging but the number of ladies who move to the tune of the SC far out weigh newer metal. Oh, don't buy an SC for the trunk or the back seats. If this is not your love go to second best with a MB, Jag, or Bimmer!
Overall review: People buy fast convertibles for the rush and the profile. Anyone who mixes their "real" reasons with dreams of doing a NASCAR bit is a couple of bricks shy of a full load. You see an SC and your mind has you diving into the best paint job on the block. You test drive the SC and you marvel at the horses chomping at the bit. You park it on the street or in the garage and I swear that it winks at you. You want something more common and mundane - pick something else. The SC set the play and the MB engineers tried to leverage off of what the Japanese and Italians had wrought. Sorry, MB, the toys with the Teutonic seats are for the wannabe SC'ers.
