Good driving experience/great value. by Hoss on 02/19/2008. Trim: 2006 Ford Focus ZX4 SE, Owned 2 years.

Pros: The seating is upright and comfortable for the dirver and front passenger. Access to the front seats is easier than I've seen for any car of similar size and compares favorably with some mid-sized cars. The 5-sp manual works smoothly, and the 2.0 liter engine provides acceptable performance. The car is nimble, and fun to drive. It offers the most important accessories at very reasonable price, and it has a large trunk.
Cons: It can be a little noisy at high speed. The high profile that makes the Focus roomy on the inside and easy to get in and out of, also makes it subject to buffeting in cross-winds. As you would expect from a sub-compact, the back seat is tight.
Overall review: I had the car for two years and 50,000 miles. It has been reliable, comfortable, and affordable. I average 32 mpg, and have found that it offers a pleasant enough driving experience to use it for long trips. I drive about 500 miles/wk, and must have a car that is reliable and effecient, and as middle-aged, arthritic, wide-body, I also needed some comfort. The Focus provides all of that, and was available for $1,500 - 2,000 less than most comparably equipt competitors.
