Owner
Still a nice truck/van
by Sak in Columbus Ohio on 05/09/2005.
Trim: 2005 GMC Safari Van AWD, Owned less than 1 year.
2
Pros:
Good AWD traction on slippery roads. Without the middle and third row seats, you can carry full sheets of plywood and drywall. Rides nice and is fairly quiet. This "is" a truck, not a car. Stereo sounds good. Tall cargo area for hauling tall things.
Cons:
I currently own a SLT 99 model year, and just bought an 05 SLT. GMC has cheapened the overall package. They have removed the following items: 1. The dimmer switch on the vanity mirrors. 2. the light in the glove box. 3. The lights in the foot wells and on the doors. 4. the rubber gasket around the non openable windows. 5. The middle row bench no longer adjusts. 6. There are no longer any map pockets on the back of the seats, only one. 7. They even removed the trim across the back doors, just above the bumper step. 8. They removed the Safari label on each door and only have one on the rear door.
Overall review:
GMC plans on terminating production of the Safari van. Rumor has it 2006 will be the last model year. It is obvious they have cut corners on the little extras to save some money. It is rather disappointing to buy another Van only to find out after the fact it has been cheapened. It is still a good truck/van, just not as good as value as it used to be.
