For the X3 3.0i, the automatic transmission is now optional at no additional cost, vertical grille slats are now chrome, new chrome trim along the base of the windows, dual-panel Panorama moonroof is now standard, and Birch Grain light wood and aluminum-finish interior trim are optional at no additional cost. The X3 2.5i receives new Matte Titanium and pearl-gloss chrome interior trim, storage compartment at the top of the instrument panel is standard, and front armrest is now standard.

One great car! by An MSN Autos Consumer on 09/25/2011. Trim: 2005 BMW X3 2.5i, Owned 5 years.

Pros: I've just sold my x3 2.5 with 193,000 miles to a good friend for his daughter. What does that suggest about the car? This X3 remains tight, everything works, handles like it did with 14,000 miles, strong power train and no leaks. Over all these miles I've changed a ball joint (under warranty), a ball joint arm, airconditioning lines (under warranty), brakes, battery, one radiator hose and just replaced the spark plugs. That's it! I change the oil (synthetic) every 10,000 miles or so.

Cons: Although the ride is stiff . . . this suspension provides for a very good cornering car. No other real complaints.

Overall review: This car has been such a pleasure to drive that I just purchased a new one.
