Not a Better Sports Car for the Money

Pros:
Having owned front-wheel-drive station wagons and minivans over the years, the "Z" was the sports car I always wanted - and I am not disappointed. It was virtually brand new when acquired in 04 and, aside from fuel fillier hose recall, the "Z" has been flawless. It's an incredable combination of handling, power, great styling and reliability. In fact, I cannot think of another car in its price range that comes close. Even more surprising is the cars relatively low fuel consumption especially at a steady highway speeds - almost 30 mpg.
Cons:
Much has been said about its cheap interior and harsh ride. However, for all the car offers, consider the hard plastic interior a necessary compromise. I am sure the Boxter has a much better one, but I could never justify the acquisition and long-term maintenance costs of a Porsche. As for the ride, it can be attributed in part to our taste for 18" rims. I notice the car is smoother on 17's, but, of course, they lack the bling of larger rims.
Overall review:
Each spring when the "Z" is removed from storage, it's like a new car. I never tire of the car's precise steering and rear wheel drive. Relative to a front-wheel drive station wagon the contrast is even more pronounced. Even errands are not that tedious, if one gets to use the "Z".
