2004 G Review by An MSN Autos Consumer on 12/04/2011. Trim: 2004 Infiniti G35 Sedan w/Leather, Owned 6 years.
Pros: As a grand tourer, this car is excellent. I have driven the twisties, rough roads and cross country. It is comfortable and handles confidently in every situation. Commuting through canyons was a joy. The stock sound is good, and the climate control has worked flawlessly in 116 degree summer days and 15 degree winter mornings. It also is one of the few cars of its size where I can sit comfortably with a sun roof. It has run nearly flawlessly for 7 years and about 75,000 miles. The only problems I have had were from "user error" (superficial body damage) or from incompetent mechanics.
Cons: Few. Some of the interior components are cheap for a car in this class. Newer models have improved greatly upon this. (The leather seats have held very well, however, so that isn't something to worry about.) The throttle and brakes can be touchy. Understand bargain seekers, THIS IS NOT AN INEXPENSIVE CAR TO MAINTAIN. Maintained properly, it will give you excellent service, but it goes through front brakes and rotors, and all tires at about 20K to 25K miles. A full front brake job will run $500, 4 tires $600-$800, and a 60K service over $1,000. If you're young and looking for a nice, sporty car, this will serve you well, but remember to put some money aside.
Overall review: An excellent car that will serve you reliably, but takes some TLC ($$$) and hard on gas.
