If your in business, an E-Series is what you need! by Winnipeg Limousine Service on 04/10/2009. Trim: 2004 Ford E-Series Wagon E-350 XLT Super Duty Extended, Owned 3 years.
Useful?
Pros: Simply....RELIABLE! I am a limousine operator who has been using Ford full size passenger Vans for years. The E-Series chassis is an old design by Ford that has been improved over the 30 years its been in the fleet family. The advantage to this is that it basically has been perfected for what it is....a large passenger/cargo vehicle and it does this like no other. Logical bench style seating allows you to place longer cargo items underneath seats if need be. The ride is excellent for a vehicle that is over 9000 lbs and the amentites such as the 6 speaker stereo & air conditioning is functional for a vehicle this size.
Cons: OK, we have all heard of the roll-over stories. There is truth to this just by plain physics. If you have a tall vehicle with a high center of gravity, you will NOT make a corner going 50 + MPH! That is why only classed licensed indivduals should be driving these vehicles with passengers. My 2004 model does not have the rear backup sensors which hould have been standard when this system was introduced by Ford. The newer 2008 models have. Power door locks are in a really bad spot as front passenger can inadvertantly "lock" the doors stepping out of the Van.
Overall review: In my past history if you are doing any sort of business where a Van is needed, the E-Series will not let you down. Ford has refined these Vans as the best selling of all time. 5.4 Triton is powerful and a perfect fit. 6.8L V10 available available but unnecessary. There is no way a GM or Chrysler version would run the distance commercially with an E-Series! I actually am looking forward to purchasing my next E350 passenger .......can you believe it and its a Van!
