THE CUP HOLDERS WORK by GM = Got Money on 05/14/2011. Trim: 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Ext. Cab Short Bed 4WD, Owned 8 years.
Pros: I have been lucky so far with 75,000 miles on it.
Cons: I have the lb7 Duramax / Allison combination. Front wheel bearings at 65,000 miles ($400 I did myself). Planning on the problem with the transfer case "pump rub" soon, very expensive to repair. Injector life is very short, 100,000 to 140,000 miles so plan on $4000 to $5000 at a GM shop. Bosh remanufactured injectors have a half life of the OEM injector. A/C will blow hot air for no reason. Front steering parts have a short life also. Right out side mirror fell off. Other weak points, water pump, fuel rail.
Overall review: Bought new Oct. 2003. Was going to ride into retirement with it. Not so! I have babied this truck from day one and have not towed heavy stuff. Once I get near 100,000 miles it's GONE. 2000 to 2004 with the Duramax lb7 have your money set aside for repairs. Fuel milage 24.5 my best running 58 MPH. Interstate running 64 MPH, 22 MPG. Town driving 13 to 14 MPG. Please do your home work before buying this truck.
