Get this truck, don't forget the Duramax! by Vagabond from Romeoville, IL on 02/01/2008. Trim: 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 HD SLE Ext Cab Short Bed 4WD, Owned 3 years.
Pros: I have the Duramax and it has worked flawless for me. I enjoy the fact I get about 20 MPG in a truck this size. Everything about this truck is quality and dependability. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a HD truck.
Cons: The notorious faulty stepper motors in the gage display is the truck's only fall back but that was easily rectified for less than $150 from a man on e-Bay who makes a fair trade repairing them.
Overall review: If you need it, buy it. If you would like a truck, buy it. 2003 was the last year before the EPA changes (with the diesel engine) and 04+ have reduced MPG due to the restrictions. Buy it, you won't be sorry.
