2002 Mercury Cougar

Two new packages are available on the Cougar Sport models, the C2 and the XR, featuring unique body colors, badging, wheels, floor mats and spoilers. The car's interior as well as front and rear fascia have been updated.

After enjoying a production run of more than 30 years, the Mercury Cougar was discontinued at the end of the 1997 model year. Although no 1998 model was produced, the Cougar returned to showrooms in a completely new form in May of 1998 as a 1999 model. Unlike its rear-wheel-drive predecessor, the new Cougar is a front-wheel-drive coupe that has no sister car under the Ford brand name. In addition, the sporty Cougar utilizes Ford's New Edge design, a styling approach that differentiates it from competitors.
