Safety is further enhanced on the S70 for 2000 with the Volvo-designed Whiplash Protection System (WHIPS) seat technology to help protect front-seat occupants from injury when a rear impact occurs. In addition, Volvo's Stability and Traction Control (STC) is available on the S70 base for the 2000 model year, incorporating Volvo's TRACS traction control technology with Dynamic Stability Control. The 2.4-liter 5-cylinder engine has also been revised to increase output to 168 horsepower.
