Owner
Great engine, but......

Pros:
This car is a blast to drive. I have almost 30k on it and the engine still wants to play. It's not just the engine, but all the components that make you feel like you're in complete control. This car has an attitude.
Cons:
All the joy from driving the car is chucked out the window because the number of things that break.
The car was at the dealer's for a month waiting for a part from Germany; the radio had to be replaced, the outside mirror control broke off in my hand (I don't think even Chevys do that). Window regulators for both windows had to be replaced, the rear seatbelt "froze-up", they had to cut it out and re-upholster the back seat (don't ask me..that's what they said).
And, I've been to both VW dealers in the area and they both suck...had one kid take the car for a joy ride after the car was serviced...I watched him.
Overall review:
I can understand why VW has extended the warranties on the current models to 3 years....they've made enough $$$ screwing everybody else for so long.
If you're considering buying a used one..buyer beware.
