Pros:
Great mileage. Interior is fine, doesn't feel 'cheap' aka nice enough fabric on doors and such. I liked the stereo controls (manual, easy to adjust while driving), seats are pretty comfortable and is roomy for an average female, 60/40 split back seat very handy for moving.
Cons:
Massive oil leak due to known problem from head gasket (my driveway is Destroyed), problems in shifting gears (automatic) if you shift too quickly from 3rd to 4th. Window seal is terrible: leaks, noisy, super easy to break into (has happened 3x), and occasionally the wheels that grip to move the window will cut into the glass somewhat leaving a scratch. Sunroof stopped working just after warranty ended (w/ low use), random problems with O2 sensor and sensor lights. Brakes squeal a bit (are ridiculously loud in the summer after rain or high humidity!) Sluggish to accelerate. Seal around rear lights is poor. Intermittent wiring problems w/ factory speakers. Wheel stiff & hard to turn. AC probs
Overall review:
You do get what you pay for, I bought this new at $18k 9 years ago. It was great when I bought it, very handy, roomy, good mileage for a student with lots of moving back and forth. Had a bit of kick at first, but everything quickly deteriorated a few months after the warranty was up. The oil leak is atrocious. Rather than fix it for $900+, I opted to let it drip slowly out until at about 8 years old when it got a lot faster and started going through about 3L/week. For less money you should get a year or two old Corolla or something reliable.
