Owner
Toyota Sienna Overall Succesfull Minivan
by Paul Valencia on 07/16/2012.
Trim: 1998 Toyota Sienna LE 4-Door, Owned more than 10 years.
2
Pros:
4 captains chairs so second row passengers are treated like first class guests , Excellent vision forward
Very reliable , its 14 years old and we are still debating if its time to go buy a new one . Our previous van
an Oldsmobile was a mechanical disaster. The Sienna is like a best friend . Totally trustworthy . Solid amount of
interior space for the compact dimensions . I am always surprised at how cramped medium SUV are VS the SIenna .
Perfect family vehicle great for beach trips, camping trips , hauling players and gear to hockey games , carrying firewood.
Runs on low octane gasoline
Cons:
Blind spots on drivers pillar , brakes dont last very long and need yearly rotor resurfacing . Both Sliding door rattles . Tires
wears before warranty .
Dash light stopped working , seatbelts broken not under life time warranty unlike Honda . Needs self leveling suspension .
Our transmission was replaced at 53k by Toyota even though it was slightly past the warranty . New tranny has now over 100.000 miles and runs great
Suspension became loose , steering is vague and caused car to drift . Once diagnosed (it took multiple garages) it steers like new again.
21 MPG average
Overall review:
165000 miles of reliable and comfortable motoring . We have kept this vehicle the longest of all the vehicles we have owned because it serves multiple uses both as commuter vehicle , cargo hauling , taxi cab and out of town camping trips.
