Great for dogs and camping!

Pros:
I love the heated seats and the cargo room. With the back seats down, I was able to camp in it with an inflatable mattress. I've hauled lawnmowers with it, moved large items like mattresses and furniture, and pulled trailers with no problems. Back windows roll all the way down, and the tint has held up well. The interior and paint can handle some abuse. At 160k I have small crack in the dash vent, that's it! I take a boxer pit mix to the dog park and my doors have minimal claw scratches, and the leather has held up to claws also. A good value after depreciation, especially if you are mechanically inclined and can perform basic repairs. Do not pay more than $3000 for it.
Cons:
Be prepared for a hot ride. A lot of heat is generated from the SmartTrak, and the ac is a problem. I bought mine with no ac - the repair was estimated at $800 at a local shop. I had a fuel pump go out - $1500. I had to replace a pitman arm - $350. The driver mirror can create some road noise in windy conditions. The console cup holders are a bit shallow and your cup can dump on a fast turn. Washer fluid tank either has a leak or an evaporation issue, it runs out quickly. In wet or snowy conditions you might hear a whoopie cushion sound and have some slight pulsing when breaking. My mechanic said it was common with the smarttraks and not really something that needed a repair.
Overall review:
I love this truck, but I would love it more if gas was under $1.00 a gallon again. An average fill up costs me $30.00 and lasts about a week around Lawrence.
