A Truck in a Tuxedo by NavLover from CA on 01/05/2011. Trim: 1998 Lincoln Navigator 4WD, Owned 10 years.

Pros: While this vehicle can be considered a truck, it's ride is SO unlike any kind of truck The air suspension gives such a nice, comfortable ride. This vehicle tows a horse trailer with two horses and all the gear extremely well, and has for many years Our Navigator was 3 years old when we bought it in 2001, had around 56,000 miles on it, now has over 161,000 & still has its original engine & transmission..! It doesn't have to tow quite as often now, is sorta semi-retired, but still handles trips to Home Depot, Costco, the nursery, etc like a champ. I still love it after all these years, and baby it since the cost of replacement, even with a used one, is a bit much for the budget.
Cons: Only the cost of repairs on some of the systems. In 2009, the compressor for the air suspension was replaced at around $800 and last year, the air bags were replaced at another $800 or so. But while we had somewhere around $3000 worth of what could be considered major repairs done over the last 3 years, those were all original parts and the car had over 100,000 miles on it even then. Can't complain too much, considering the cost of replacing the vehicle, even with a used 3 year old Navigator.
Overall review: I LOVE THIS CAR..!! When mine totally dies and can't be fixed, I will get another. Not a new one, of course, but a low-mileage used Navigator. Ours has been terrific, and I can only hope that a later model would have the same "work eithic" as my 13 year old workhorse. This was the first year of the Navigator, and normally there are more than a few bugs to work out. But this car was built upon the solid base of the Expedition. It's a much nicer, smoother ride than the Expedition and has a more luxurious interior, so it's an Expedition in a tuxedo, but worth the money for those extras systems and luxury touches, especially if it's a daily driver and carries a lot of passengers.
