Best Car Ever, and Better With Age
by Seibei from Los Angeles on 08/14/2009.
Trim: 1998 Infiniti Q45, Owned 9 years.

Pros:
I've had this car for 9 years and it's the best car ever. Far superior in every way to 3 Cadillacs and 2 Mercedes that preceded it. It's comfortable, durable, powerful and beautiful with impressive fit and finish and high-quality materials that have held up surprisingly well over 150k miles of hard use. It's a conventional luxury car; it doesn't wow you with gimmicks and gizmos. It just does what it does incredibly well. My real estate clients were always impressed when they got in, even people who don't normally notice cars. Replaced Michelins early on with Continental Contacts and handling improved markedly.
Cons:
The 4.1 V8 is very thirsty in town, though it will return 24mpg on the highway with careful driving, and the trunk isn't huge. Leave it in the garage if there's snow on the ground.
Overall review:
This car is just really, really good. With proper maintenance, it seems like it will keep going forever. The longer I've had it, the more I've liked it. I bought it because my Mercedes self-destructed and I didn't love it at first, but it's gotten better and better. If Nissan/Infiniti decide to bring another of their big Cima/President/Q45 sedans back to the US market, I'll buy it -- but I'm keeping the '98.
