Overall review:
Bought my Cosmo Black Roadster in 2000 as second owner with 13K. Went to dealer to purchase a new 3.0 Z3. Tested first the 3.0 then the Roadster, drove off the lot with the Roadster, paying more than I would have for the brand new 3.0. I know it's not as powerful as the newer M-Z3, but the 98 model, without the various new German alphabet handling control systems, is a pure Roadster in the traditional Euro Roadster tradition. Mine is not a daily driver, after 10 yrs ownership it registers 35K. Oil changes and a set of fresh tires @ 30K, no mechanical problems to speak of; other than needing to replace a scratched up plastic rear window for the soft top. I have kept the Roadster stock and plan on keeping it for a while. I thought of trading it in for Porche or some other sporty ride, but I just couldn't do it. It's just too much fun, a winding road top down on a sunny day; gobbling up the asphalt effortlessly just like the Ultimate Fun Machine it was designed to be.
