1997 Ford Escort

The Ford Escort is available in four models: 1997 Escort (base) and LX, both 4-door sedans; 1998 ZX2 Cool and ZX2 Hot, both 2-door coupes. Safety equipment includes dual airbags, child safety locks (sedans only) and an available anti-lock brake system (ABS). As part of a redesign, the Escort sedans get a new 110-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. The new ZX2 coupes receive a more powerful 130 horsepower variation of the 2.0-liter engine. Standard features on all models include an AM/FM stereo, tinted glass, intermittent wipers, front and rear stabilizer bars, and rear heater ducts. The interior also features an Integrated Control Panel (ICP) similar to the one on the Taurus. Air conditioning and upgraded stereos are optional on all models.
