Loving the 840 by An MSN Autos Consumer on 02/08/2008. Trim: 1997 BMW 840Ci, Owned 2 years.

Pros: This car is one of the most beautiful ever built! I love the rarity of this model and its unique looks. It is a head-turner no matter where I go. It is also an excellent cruising machine, made for wide open highways and sweeping turns.

Cons: Since it is an older car, it requires more maintenance to keep in top condition. Parts are sometimes hard to come by. Do not buy this car if you don't have a good reserve of money available for repairs. (And a spare car to drive!)

Overall review: With a few tweaks and modifications, many of the trouble areas of this car can be minimized. If you like working on bimmers, this is a good choice for you. The best part about owning an 8-series is the community of owners. Get involved with them! Despite the friendly ribbing between 850 and 840 owners, make no mistake that the M62 V8 can hold its own against the 'big-boy' V12s. They each have their pros and cons, but each is a joy to own and drive.
