Lost in limbo between a luxury car and a hot rod
by Frank on 08/27/2006.
Trim: 1996 Lincoln Continental Base, Owned 6 years.

Pros:
This car has incredible accelaration, climate control system is above average, it is easy to park, highway fuel milage is way above average for a V-8, 27-28 average, the ride is very good, sound system is excellent, visability is good, plenty of leg room.
Overall a very good car.
Cons:
Air ride suspension tops the list of dislikes, handling with the front wheel drive is sloppy, transmission is fragile and unpredicible, the electronics are sometimes unpredicable, mirrors will not adjust properly, seats the same way when using the personal profile syatem. The brakes are poor, better start braking early.
The cost of replacement parts is through the roof, absolutely rediculous.
Overall review:
Overall this car is not the ultimate crusier nor is it a hot rod, even though the V-8 engine which is mounted transversely, claims to have 265 hp., the handling prevents the hot rod side of this car from showing it self.
If it will be a car to set under the garage and drive sparingly, it will serve you well, ultimately the air ride suspension and transmission, and the transmission will cost between 2500 and 3000, will have to be replaced, better off changing to coil springs, and throw the air springs away.
