Maybe Buick's last great car? by Big Buick Lover on 12/26/2011. Trim: 1996 Buick Roadmaster Limited, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Bought this car because I've always driven big rear wheel drive Buicks and this was the last one made. I was very surprised at the mechanical quality and ride. It's obvious the car is designed for it's target audience of 60 and up and that makes it easy to drive and the controls easy to use. I love the power and smoothness and long trips are a dream as this thing eats up the highway. Mileage is also good for a car this size but suffers a bit with city driving.
Cons: The door panels were designed very poorly. The plastic wood inserts will break and are difficult to replace. The rear windows are known to have issues with the tracks. The trim around the front and rear bumpers will eventually start to peel as the chrome is cheap. The rubber inserts in the side molding can also start to come off but can be glued back on. My Roadmaster came with the 8 slot plastic chrome wheel covers and in the first year I lost two. A hubcap company told me these wheels were extremely expensive and problematic and known to fly off on the road. I replaced them with an after market set that have the Buick logo and look stock.
Overall review: I really love this car. It's been my daily driver and runs perfect. I feel this is the most reliable car I've ever owned and I've owned countless Buick Electras, Rivieras and Skylarks through the years.
