The Fast Cat! by Catgirl in the Midwest on 12/29/2003. Trim: 1989 Mercury Cougar LS, Owned 4 years.
Pros: For a petite person, the Cougar is a nice size car for driving. The trunk will hold at least two full sized adults, or in parent terms instead of mafia terms, a stroller and fifteen travel bags and suitcases. The steering wheel tilt is nice for pregnant stomachs, and the seatbelts are quite nice and adjustable. Power windows and locks are a comfort in big cities and bad neighborhoods. Car has a wide front end to hit people who are blocking your path. The seats are cushy and it drives like a cat walks. Very elegently. Has alot of get-up-and-go. Very Peppy!.
Cons: Hard to get child carseats into and out of the back. It doesn't have cup holders or a place to put all of my cd's. Husband thinks it does nicely making donuts in parking lots. Gets stuck in snow easily and does not like ice. Cougars should inhabit only warm climates with lite to moderate precipitation. They get cranky and irritable in cold climates. Be sure to check the brakes and shocks frequently. They also tend to have a problem with the oil sensor and the thermostat. If you don't mind having no feeling in your fingers when you drive in the winter, it is perfect. It is also good for sweating horribly when you have no R-12 to charge the air conditioning.
Overall review: This is a wonderful car!! It drives nicely in great conditions, and average in adverse weather conditions. Good for families without small children or car seats. Nice for long travels or road trips. (once you put in cup holders) Middle console has lots of space for loose change and cigarettes.
