Best Little Car EVER!! by Jovida on 07/14/2011. Trim: 1988 Ford Festiva L, Owned 6 years.
Pros: It may not be stylish, but it is SO dependable, just hummin' down the road like a little sewing machine on wheels. It was an ugly duckling when we bought it, as the previous owner was a teen who was embarrassed to be seen it and it looks as though she tried to destroy it (ah, the stupidity of some youths...). But it survived it's teen years with poise and grace.
Cons: Nothing about the car itself, but rather the increasing difficulty of finding spare parts for it! Even the junkyards are saying, "Sorry..we don't have anything." Recently, we had to have tires ordered for it because, per the salesman, "We don't keep that size in stock anymore." Huh? No small cars on the road anymore? Don't get it...
Overall review: Bear in mind, the ratings I gave our Festiva are based on the shape it is in now. I would have given it all 10's had it been new! This is the best car we've ever owned. My husband uses it to make his thirty mile round trip commute for work and saves a lot of money at the gas pump. The MPG on this thing is fantastic! It responds well and is fun to drive. He nicknamed it P.J. (short for puddle jumper). To date, we've had four people, all strangers, approach us and ask if we would consider selling it. Not on your life! Best car Ford ever made. We've been hoping and praying that, with the way the high price of gas and the poor economy, that Ford might start making them again!
