The Toyota Yaris is redesigned for 2012, with a longer wheelbase and a lower, more aggressive profile with a steeply sloped beltline and flowing curves that appear to stretch the vehicle. The interior is also redesigned, with additional sound-absorbing and insulating material for a quieter ride, with upgraded fabrics and soft-touch materials and wider front seats. The new Yaris will be offered in three trims: the entry-level L and the value-packaged LE available either as 3-door or 5-door liftbacks; the sport-tuned SE is available only as a 5-door. All trims feature a new, compact, lighter, 4-speed automatic transmission for greater fuel efficiency. Enhanced safety features include nine standard airbags, an impact-absorbing body structure, and Toyota’s Advanced Whiplash Injury-Lessening front-seat structure.

a seriously nice compact car by Cliff of Madison on 02/20/2012. Trim: 2012 Toyota Yaris LE 3-Door AT, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: I traded in a 2009 Yaris on this vehicle and am very pleased. I loved the old Yaris but it was on the noisy side. The new one, with the greater attention to road and wind noise is a pleasure to drive. Considerable attention was also paid to the instrument panel. The old one got a solid 40mpg on the highway and 30 in town. I expect the new one will match or even better those figures. For a compact car of these proportions, this car seats 4 adults quite comfortably.
Cons: My only negative is the "Road Runner" horn. The Beep Beep sound does not adequately convey my disdain for other drivers who don't follow the rules of the road.
Overall review: With the mileage this car delivers and the road worthiness it offers, there shouldn't be a Prius sold at $26,000.
