The 2009 Mercury Mariner Hybrid uses a new 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine designed to run on the Atkinson combustion cycle combined with an electric motor and a new engine processor for smooth transitions between gas and electric mode. A new powertrain damping system reduces vibration and feedback to the occupants. The braking system has been refined for a seamless transition between regenerative braking and standard brake functionality.

Hi-Bird by Happy on 12/02/2009. Trim: 2009 Mercury Mariner Hybrid FWD, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: The comfort,quietness and great MPG. We have had a Prius for four years and enjoyed the MPG. We decided to get another Hybrid. On the road the wife gets 33.4 MPG . We do like SUVs for room , large items and grand children. She drives the prius and gets 44-46 MPG. I drive it as a hybrid and get 49-53. Thinking my mpgs will be a little better. The climate controls are wonderful. In the past we each needed a different temp setting. Well now we have it. I like the SYNC system for system checks to your computer and SYNC phone. As of now coming up on 5000 miles . We would do this one again.

Cons: Nothing as yet

Overall review: We looked at four FWD SUV Hybrids. Final decision looks and MPG sold us on Mariner. It is great and we enjoy it so far !!!!!!!!
