The 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid receives a total makeover and shares similar updates as the Mariner. For the first time, Mariner Hybrid will be available front- or four-wheel drive. Highlighted by new fascias, headlights and taillights, liftgate and hood, the Mercury also receives a larger signature waterfall grille with bigger Mercury badge on the grille. The interior is fitted with new seats, door trim panels, A- and B-pillar trims, center console, new floor-mounted shifter, Satin Pewter finishes and chrome accents to give the 2008 Mariner Hybrid an upscale look. Also new the “top of dash” display, Ice Blue Lighting and dials and buttons that “poke-through” the center console. The center console is large enough to hold a laptop computer and has three levels of storage space. The software control system has been improved for a smoother transition between gasoline and electric operation. Safety equipment includes standard side-curtain airbags with AdvanceTrac with the roll stability control system.

An American SUV that gets OVER 30mpg in the city! by Family of Five on 08/15/2008. Trim: 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid 4X2, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: An SUV that gets OVER 30mpg in the city! I have been getting 32 in town and on the Highway without trying. My wife loves it. We cut our fuel bill in half. Overall excellent quality. Seats up to 5.
Cons: Just a couple petty things. Exposed screw head down in the door handles...the only cheapy looking thing on the whole car. No seat position memory for the driver seat... I am tall, my wife is short. No power seat option for the passenger seat...ours was ordered with every available option.
Overall review: An SUV that gets OVER 30mpg in the city! This is the kind of vehicle that can get Ford back on track.
