The redesigned 2010 Lexus RX 450h is powered by the newest version of the Lexus Hybrid Drive system, which combines a more powerful 3.5-liter Atkinson-cycle V6 engine with a generator and two electric motors for a total combined power output of 295 horsepower, 27 more than its predecessor, with a 16 to 20 percent improvement in fuel economy. Available in all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive, the RX 450h has EPA-estimated fuel economy of 32 mpg city/28 mpg highway for FWD and 30/28 for AWD. A new exhaust-heat recovery system and a cooled exhaust-gas recirculation system both contribute to fuel-economy improvements. A full hybrid, the RX 450h can operate in electric-only or gas-engine-only modes, as well as a combined gas-electric mode with a drive-selectable EV mode for electric-only operation over short distances when circumstances allow.

Land Cruiser vs RMX 450h by Tom on 12/03/2011. Trim: 2010 Lexus RX 450h AWD, Owned 1 year.

Pros: Overall ride. Quite and smooth
Cons: the outlets to plug your cell phone, etc. into are located in the most difficult spot. In fact, you can't even see them. You have to reach down deep into the center compartment on plug in by feeling you way around
Overall review: My previous car was a Land Cruiser. The 450h is no Land Cruiser but I'm happy with it. Land Cruiser 15 mpg vs 450h 28 mpg. But if the Land Cruiser got the same mileage I would have bought a new one.
