The 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid is the first full-size SUV hybrid with a state-of-the-art hybrid system using GM’s all-new Electrically Variable Transmission (EVT). GM’s advanced EVT is combined with a 300-volt nickel-metal hydride Energy Storage System, which work in concert with the standard 6.0-liter V8 Gen IV gasoline engine with Active Fuel Management and late intake valve closing technology. The new hybrid system allows the Yukon Hybrid to drive at up to 30 mph on electricity alone and also allows the engine to operate in its more economical V4 mode for longer periods.

Love this SUV. by Utah on 07/08/2009. Trim: 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid 4HY 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: City mileage, comfort & power. Had it three months.
Cons: Wish the rear seat folded flat like our Yukon XL. The leather seats are not as good quality as earlier vehicles. The driver needs a grab bar like the passenger side. Wish the electric batteries allowed for higher freeway mileage.
Overall review: We average 20.8 around town and 22.7 on highway. Love the vehicle but it is pricey. Bought it as a dealer demo with 1,100 miles on it. People comment that it's the "biggest hybrid they've ever seen. "
